The purpose of the Cultural Competency & Health Literacy – Socioeconomic Status (SES) training module is to provide an operational definition of socioeconomic status and to identify barriers relating to low socioeconomic status in providing quality healthcare.
The goal of the Cultural Competency & Health Literacy – Socioeconomic Status (SES) training module is for partner organizations to acquire the basic tools needed to identify and reduce health disparities and to demonstrate an increased awareness of the important role cultural diversity and health literacy play in delivering services that are responsive to the cultures, language, and literacy needs of an increasingly diverse patient population with low socioeconomic status.
At the end of Care Compass Network’s Cultural Competency & Health Literacy – Socioeconomic Status (SES) training module, participants will be able to:
• Define and describe cultural competency as it relates to low socioeconomic populations.
• Define and describe health literacy as it relates to low socioeconomic populations.
• Recognize the potential consequences of limited understanding of cultural diversity as it relates to low socioeconomic populations.
• Identify appropriate resources to address cultural and linguistic gaps as it relates to low socioeconomic populations.
