The Science of Addiction and Overdose Response and Reversal Training is a science-based training detailing the changes the body undergoes while using opioids. The training is delivered in accordance with the requirements of our New York State Certified Overdose Prevention Program. The Overdose Prevention Program, of which Truth Pharm became a certified trainer in 2017, provides Narcan Training, an overview of the signs and symptoms of substance use, the science of addiction and distribution of Narcan as an evidence-based practice. The objectives of the session are to learn some of the myths and truths surrounding drug use and Substance Use Disorder. To understand how opioids impact opioid receptors and dopamine production. To understand how opioids can impact neural pathways in the brain. To understand why it’s difficult to “just quit”.
